A plaster cast of the late Princess of Wales‘ left hand is being sold after being displayed to the public for a week.

The auction is set to take place at Reeman Dansie in Essex in their ‘Royalty, Fine Art and Antiques Sale’ on November 8 and 9. Speaking on a recent video on his YouTube channel, royal expert Neil Sean explained that the “rare mold” of Princess Diana’s hand will be on display next week. Mr Sean said: “[The cast] could now fetch up to £40,000.” He added that the mold is the only cast made “during her lifetime” and was made “with her consent”.

The royal expert added that it was made by the sculptor Oscar Nemon, at his studio in Saint James’ Palace. He noted that the cast was made not long “before her death in the late 1990s”. Mr Sean noted that it will be sold alongside other “royal memorabilia”. A cast of Winston Churchill’s hand will also be sold alongside the late Princess’s.

He noted that anything to do with Diana “creates a lot of interest”. “The starting block is £40,000”, Mr Sean concluded. Princess Diana passed away in a car crash in Paris on August 31, 1997. The late Princess was only 36-years-old at the time of her death. Diana’s two sons, William and Harry, were only 15 and 12 when their mother tragically passed away.

Diana’s romantic partner, Dodi Fayed, was also in the car and died at the scene. The fifth season of The Crown will be released by Netflix on 9 November 2022.The show, which follows the life and reign of Queen Elizabeth II, will focus on the breakdown of Princess Diana’s marriage to the now-King Charles in the 1990s.

Despite some controversy, the show is set to show a reconstruction of Diana’s 1995 tell-all Panorama interview. Following a damning report on how consent for the interview was achieved, Prince William pleaded for the footage not to be broadcast again.
