HKH Arctic Leadership Forum 2025 in Iceland (Fully Funded)

Applications are invited to apply for the HKH Arctic Leadership Forum 2025 in Iceland. All International Applicants are welcome to apply for the Youth Leadership Forum. This forum will bring together young people from the HKH and Arctic regions to share ideas and work together to discover solutions to climate change. Travel, hotel, and participation fees will be fully covered. The forum will be held virtually over the course of a year, culminating in an in-person event in October 2025. The Leadership Forum will be held in Reykjavik, Iceland. It’s an initiative for young people concerned about climate change.

The Earth’s cryosphere, or frozen water, is fast disappearing, drastically altering life in two of the most climate-vulnerable areas: the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) and the Arctic. The HKH is warming at twice the global average, while the Arctic is warming roughly four times faster. At the heart of this issue are the young people of these places, who are already experiencing the effects on their homes, traditions, and future. They are more than passive observers; they are ecological knowledge custodians, biodiversity stewards, and vital stakeholders in the development of sustainable futures.

The HKH-Arctic young Leadership Forum seeks to develop an annual Youth Leadership Forum that will foster a new generation of mountain and polar young climate leaders. The Forum will inform, empower, and support youth from the HKH and Arctic regions by providing a platform for them to share their perspectives and voices, strengthen their leadership skills, build capacity, and promote intergenerational dialogue, thereby ensuring more youth-focused climate decision-making processes on the cryosphere and biodiversity.
